Strengthening Ties: Mayor of Guangzhou, China, Delivers Prestigious Gift to Kumba City Mayor
On Friday, September 6, 2024, the Kumba City Mayor, Greg Mewanu received a distinguished gift from Guangzhou, China, thanks to the efforts of Kumba-born entrepreneur Kingston Eyembe Enene.
The gift, a renowned Chinese wine, was presented by Eyembe, who emphasized that this gesture is aimed at enhancing collaboration between the Mayor of Guangzhou and the City of Kumba. Eyembe explained, “We are trying to put the Mayor of Guangzhou and the City Mayor to collaborate. So I tried to create a link between to see how we can improve on my city, the City of Kumba.”
Elaborating on the importance of the gift, Eyembe noted that the wine is a special drink widely consumed by high-ranking officials in China during significant events such as National Day celebrations on October 1. He identified the wine as “Moatai wine”.
Kingston Eyembe further commended the City Mayor of Kumba for his dedication to the city’s development. “He loves the city and I can see what he is doing to improve our city, so I’m very very impressed. That is why I am trying my best to put him in contact with the City of Guangzhou,” Eyembe stressed.
Upon receiving the gift, the City Mayor of Kumba expressed his gratitude and hopes for an increasingly strong relationship between the two cities in the future.
Kingston Eyembe, who has been residing in China for the past 20 years, sees this initiative as a great contribution to his hometown, aiming to enhance international cooperation and development through such partnerships.
