The Kumba City Council has officially launched the 4th Edition of the “Operation Keep Your Quarter Clean” Competition. Registration for interested quarters is currently ongoing, with the competition scheduled to run from Monday, September 1 to Monday, December 15, 2025.

Quarter Heads and city dwellers are encouraged to take part in this vital initiative aimed at making Kumba a cleaner, greener, and healthier city. As with previous editions, the competition will involve an intensive inspection and evaluation exercise carried out by a multisectoral team made up of personnel from the Kumba City Council, HYSACAM, and other deconcentrated state services.
The inspection will focus on the following key areas:
Operation Zero Plastics
Compound cleanliness and trimming of overgrown trees and flowers
Inspection of latrines, poultry pens, and pigsties
Operation “No Farming Along the Road”
Cleaning of gutters
Road maintenance and pothole filling
Mitigating water leakage from damaged pipelines
Identification of ongoing constructions without building permits
Clearing of abandoned plots
Removal of illegally installed roadside shop containers
These inspections are intended not only to foster healthy competition among quarters but also to instill lasting community-led environmental practices throughout the city.
A preparatory meeting to set the stage for this year’s edition was held on Monday, August 5, during which strategies for a smooth rollout were discussed. Inspection tours to the various quarters will begin soonest, with participating quarters expected to demonstrate measurable efforts in maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
