At the two-day Mind Capacity Building Conference, held under the theme “Youths, Human Capacity, For A Positive Mindset,” the City Mayor delivered an inspiring speech emphasizing the importance of using skills and talents to generate job opportunities beyond government dependence.

Greg Mewanu highlighted four key sub-themes: Mind Education and Self-Confidence, Human Capacity Development, Youth, the Law and Drugs, and Mind Capacity Building for Entrepreneurial Development.

A significant portion of the address focused on entrepreneurship as a means of self-reliance. The City Mayor encouraged young people to transform their passions into viable businesses, offering support for financial management. City Mayor Mewanu explained that the private sector integrates the majority of young people into the economy, not the government. “Therefore, youths should leverage their talents and skills to create substantial employment opportunities,” he said.

In his address, the City Mayor emphasized that a positive mindset is essential for young people to overcome challenges and pursue their aspirations. “Our youths are the architects of the future, and it is our duty to equip them with the tools necessary for success,” he stated. He encouraged youths to foster a culture of positivity that inspires strength and self-confidence.

Furthermore, the city mayor called for increased access to quality education and job training, emphasizing that unlocking the potential within the youth is vital for community growth. “By providing mentorship and resources, we can empower our young people to achieve their goals and make a meaningful impact,” he said.

Addressing drug abuse and legal awareness, Greg Mewanu urged youths to make informed decisions, resist harmful behaviors, and adhere to legal norms, reinforcing that education is vital for their well-being.

Greg Mewanu concluded by reiterating the importance of collaboration among community members to provide the best opportunities for the young population.

The organizing committee represented by Abwa Takang also took a moment to express their appreciation: “We sincerely thank you, Lord Mayor Gregory Mewanu, for not only showing up but also for delivering an eloquent keynote address during our Mind Capacity Building Conference. Your contribution added true value to this life-changing event for the youths of Kumba, the South West Region, and our nation, Cameroon.”

He continued, “We have no gifts to offer but these words of gratitude. May the good Lord continue to protect, bless, and grant you wisdom and long life.”
