The City Mayor of Kumba City Council,Gregory Mewanu has reiterated the need for the establishment of more Vocational Training institutions to foster job creation and youth employment.

The City Mayor of Kumba City Council,Gregory Mewanu has reiterated the need for the establishment of more Vocational Training institutions to foster job creation and youth employment.

He was speaking to the press in Buea after his recent trip to India with a 16 man delegation led by Minister Delegate at the Ministry of External Relations incharge of the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu.

They were in India for the 19th India-Africa Business Conclave that took place in the city of New Delhi from August 20-22,2024.

Gregory Mewanu, the Kumba City boss said the aim of the visit was geared towards creation a stronger network among partners for the benefit of all. ” We went out to look for partners that we can work with at the level of the Councils and at the level of the Central government that we can work with. So far we are already receiving positive feedbacks. I was more interested at Vocational Training for Kumba and I had a B2B with a University Agency that promotes education in India that are ready to visit Kumba for such a venture.” City Mayor Mewanu said.

He went on that five pilot projects will be engaged in five Council areas for experimentation which is in line with the policy of Decentralization championed by the Head of State,President Paul Biya.

 

The Kumba City Council boss also revealed that key highlight was discussions on Jeicom 25, where they looked into exciting innovations and potential partnerships with Indian investors in no distant future.
