The poem, was warmly received by the City Mayor, who expressed his gratitude for such a meaningful gift.

“This is the first I have received of this magnitude. We appreciate it, thank you so much,” said City Mayor Mewanu, visibly moved by the thoughtful gesture from Nwanja and the literary community.

The poem, titled The Green City of Kumba, is a tribute to the city’s rich cultural heritage, its agricultural prowess, and the collective spirit of its people. For Nwanja, the idea behind the poem was simple yet profound: to highlight the often overlooked beauty and potential of Kumba.

“He is the City Mayor and he is the boss of the town. That is why I thought it wise to come and handover the poem to him,” said Walter Nwanja.

Further elaborating on the message of the poem, Nwanja explained, “The poem is basically about showcasing the positive part of Kumba. People always tend to have a negative impression about Kumba…Kumba is a city where all aspirations will thrive. It is the epitome of living together in Cameroon.”

The Green City of Kumba

In K-town, the green city of Kumba, Where cocoa and coffee fields thrive. People from all walks of life gather, To make their dreams come alive.

Kumba, a bustling metropolitan, In Meme’s Division it stands strong, Welcoming strangers with open arms, And offering opportunities so grand.

“Doki” Merchants may be notorious, For their fake documents and schemes, But Kumba is more than just that, It’s a place of hopes and dreams.

Traders and farmers work hand in hand, In the agro activities they engage, Buying and selling cocoa and coffee, Turning the city into a bustling stage.

In Kumba, every person has a place, Their voices are heard, their stories told, The good, the bad, and the ugly, All find a home in this city bold.

So, let’s not judge Kumba too quickly. For it’s more than just what meets the eye, It’s a green city of opportunities, Where dreams have a chance to fly high.
